Connor Twins-Thelma & Vel_profdash 7 August 2014

The Connor Twins who adorned the 1922 and 1923 Ziegfeld Follies were one in a line of sister acts that fascinated Florenz Ziegfeld. They sang-danced-acted in skits and engaged in sisterly repartee. The act broke into show business with Gus Edwards in 1921 and enjoyed a quarter century run on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1926 they had a significant part in Ziegfeld's Sigmund Romberg project "No Foolin'." They were favorites at the Globe in London in 1928 and 1929. In the 1930s they ventured into movies, enjoyed a feature spot in "Million Dollar Baby." Velma enjoyed modest exposure in late 1920s westerns. In the 1930s they sang on radio--elsewhere on this site is an ad for one radio performance. Both died in the 1980s in Hollywood.
